To publish a map with text

If you want to publish a map with text on CartOrient, please submit your proposal to the editor. Proposals will be reviewed by the editorial board before acceptance and publication.

The maps are made, in full or in part, by CartOrient in collaboration with the authors of texts and on the basis of data provided by them or compiled by CartOrient. Whether interactive or static, maps must follow the interactive atlas’s guidelines for graphics.

The texts published on CartOrient must be original, and written to accompany the interpretation of a map. Each text, from 3000 to 9000 characters, should have a title, a short introduction and eventually a single level of subheadings.

The text should describe its sources, and have a bibliography/sitography as well as links to other maps on our website. A text may contain photographs, graphics or tables (the latter designed by cartographers at CartOrient).

Publish a thematic atlas

This option allows for the publication of several maps with texts on a single theme. Each thematic atlas starts with an introduction along with a table of contents. It should be designed to be consulted like a book.

Propose a map to be made

Requests can be submitted to the editorial board for maps to be made on specific themes or areas that are missing in the interactive atlas. Depending on the data available and the workload, the board will try to satisfy requests.
